But it's hot outside, its muggy and perfect for ripening fruits and vegetables ... You try to eat as much as you can, but in the end, it's near impossible to eat 100lbs. of fruit in a week. Trust me, I'm sure I've tried!
So you get sad, upset, frown, and have to toss out your now rotting and leaking fruits.
Well here's the best part. I am seriously telling you to FROWN NO MORE! Today I was in your shoes. I had 3 pineapples, 2 lbs. of Blueberries, 2 1/2 lbs of Strawberries, and yes, 3 Mangoes that needed to be eaten immediately.
So, I portioned out 15 sandwich baggies with about 1 1/2 cups of fruit, mixining up the flavors -- Bluebreey Banana, Pineapple Mango, Pineapple Mango, Strawberry Blueberry Mango, etc and placed them into the freezer!
The goal - Have a quick on the run breakfast smoothie ready in no time. For each bag, jsut add 1/2 cup yogurt and 1 cup Milk or Almondmilk (any milk) to the blender and viola! Add yoru frozen fruits and puree for 2 minutes. You can go crazy and add flax seeds, peanut butter, protein poweder, cottage cheese in place of yogurt, greek yogurt, fruit juice in poalce of milk.... literally go BANANAS!
I had so much fun with this, and since I am currently on a high protein high vitamin diet, this worked out PERFECTLY!
Whipping up... no Blending up a Pineapple Banana Flax smoothie... 3 minutes to glory thanks to the frozen portions! Yum! |
I hope you enjoy, and remember, LEAVE NO FRUIT BEHIND!
Best, and happy blending!
What a great idea! YUP, I'm just as guilty about stocking up at the market!
