Strawberry Banana Power Smoothie (GF, High Protein, Fat Free)

This smoothie is made with fruit, honey, almond milk, and fat free cottage cheese -- I know, sounds crazy, but cottage cheese is a super source for protein, and the fat free kind save you on calories and fat that isn't needed for flavor and texture.

The ingredient list can be up to you. Today's smoothie was a "blend" of fruits I had on hand!

Strawberry Breakfast Power Smoothie (GF, High Protein, FF)
What You Need:
1 tbsp Honey
1/2 cup Fat Free Cottage Cheese
1 Banana
1 Frozen Banana
10 Strawberries
1/2 cup Vanilla Almond Milk*
*Can use any dairy or even soy milk product

I love fresh fruit. Apples, grapefruits, oranges... and many a times bananas. But my bananas get ripe too fast, and I sadly have to say once too ripe, I'm not into them. So I freeze them by removing the peels and placing them into freezer bags. These I save for smoothies and my favorite, banana bread.

A money saving tip to save the cost of frozen fruits come breakfast time... and plus no banana should be left behind!  And I have decided to not let the winter and rainy weahter blues bring my fashion side down, so why not start the mornings off right?! Forget the pancakes and bacon, let's fit into those shorts!

No ice, because the myth is ice makes a smoothie good. Well truth be told, ice doesn't always work, and in a smoothie like this it will only break up the dairy and make the smoothie lumpy and separated. And separated smoothie = Not fun. Instead the frozen banana will act as my chilling element, the cottage cheese a thickening agent and protein source, and the rest will enhance flavor and nutrition.

So here you go! Throw everything into the blender and puree for 1 1/2 minutes. Turn off and viola! A powerful glass of yum that will ignite your natural energy and tie you over until lunch! I drizzled with some honey and topped with a fresh strawberry, but hey -- anything is possible and the smoothie art is up to you!

Thanks for another fun 5 minute fix with me!
