Sweet, tangy, and easy to make!
(For Halloween this was "BBQ Brains!)
Complexity Level: Easy
Slow Cooked BBQ Pulled ChickenComplexity Level: Easy
What You Need:
4 lbs. Chicken (A Whole Chicken or Leg Quarters work Best)
1 tbsp Sea Salt
2 cloves Garlic
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 cup BBQ Sauce
1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Evening Before:
To start, add the Chicken, Sea Salt, Crushed Red Pepper Flakes, and Garlic to a large pot. Add 9 cups of water and bring to a boil. Lower to medium heat, cover, and cook 2 hours. Turn Off Heat, drain all but 2 cups of the Water (I save this as it is chicken stock-- and free stock is AWESOME for hundreds of recipes!) Bring to room temperature and if prepping for the next day chill over night. If cooking the same day, remove all bones and place the pulled chicken into a slow cooker.
Add the 2 cups stock that was saved from the boil stage, and add the Brown sugar and BBQ Sauce. I also add 1 tbsp Hot sauce to make it sweet and tangy. SLow cook for 4-6 hours. This is going to make this go from pulled chicken with BBQ sauce, which anyone can make, to a thick, caramelized, sweet and tangy chicken that people will gobble up!
It's fun to have dinner parties, and for Halloween we labeled this as BBQ Brains. I kid you not, many people thanked me for the delicious brain sandwiches, and while only 30 people came, and I doubled the recipe, only enough to make 4 sandwiches remained. Great Success!
I hope you Enjoy! I will be posting some exotic recipes soon!
