Strawberry Pretzel Jello

A classic recipe in simple bargained terms!  Yum!

Strawberry Pretzel Jello
What You Need:
CRUST:
2 cups Crushed/broken Mini Pretzels
3/4 cup Melted Butter
3 tsp Sugar

PINK LAYER
1 8z. pack Cream Cheese (room temperature)
1 cup Sugar
12 oz Cool Whip

JELLO LAYER
1 Large Package Strawberry Jello (can use sugar free)
1/2 pack Knox Gelatin
1 1/2 cups water
20 oz Frozen Strawberries in syrup
(you can double Jello Layer for a thicker top layer)

This has 3 simple layers.  THe best part of this recipe is that the Pink Layer is also a recipe for Fruit dip.  And alone, it is amazing, but in this dish it is fantastico!

To start: (CRUST)--
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees .Fahrenheit.  Melt the butter and sugar, then stir in the broken pretzels.   Press this into the bottom of a 9X13 Glass baking dish, and bake 8 minutes.  Remove, turn off oven, and let cool completely.

Next is the Pink Layer.
Beat the cream cheese and sugar toghether.  Next (you can add food coloring for color!) add the cool whip and beat on high until smooth and creamy.  This will be thick, but that is OK and delcious.  So do not worry!  Once the pretzel layer and dish are completely cooled, slowly smooth the pink layer on top.  I drop spoonfuls over the pretzels, then slowly "ice" the pretzels, locking them in under the pink layer (press all the way to the glass sides.

Last.  The Jello Layer.
Boil 1 1/2 cups water.  Turn off heat and add the Jello mix and extra gelatin.  Plce the semi-frozen strawberries in syrup (agin 20 oz.) in a large bowl and pour the hot jello mixture over.  Stir until the strawberrie are completely melted into the jello and it is cold to touch.  Pour over the pink layer and chill.  Cover and let chil until ready to serve!

YUM!!!  This is so tasty it is hard to share!

Enjoy,

XOXO
