Spicy White and Black Bean BBQ Veggie Burger

This is another winner!  Absolutely Delicious!
Spicy White and Black Bean BBQ Veggie Burger
What You Need:
1 16oz can of White, Garbanzo, or Cannelli Beans (Drained and rinsed)
8oz. Black Beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 Yellow Onion, finely chopped
1/3 Green Bell Pepper finely chopped
1/4 cup Shredded or Finely Chopped Carrots
1/2 Roma Tomato, finely chopped (remove the gooey inside first)
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Parsley Flakes
1 Pinch Salt
1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes ($nil)
1 pinch Black Pepper
1 Egg
1 tbsp hot Sauce
3 tbsp BBQ Sauce
Saltine Crackers or 1 cup Plain Bread Crumbs

Preparation: Mash the beans so they are almost all smashed. I lost a part to my food processor (gasp!) so heres a way to do this sans appliances: Grab any old canned good and place it in no need to zip. Now you have a smasher that wont stick to the beans! Now just mix in all the ingredients except for the saltines.

To add saltines I grab a handful, and squeeze... I like having pieces of them in my burger, but its a personal choice -- you can just add the plain bread crumbs as they are.  When the consistency is less wet than dry, but not completely dried up (aka when you can make a patty that is moist but sticky) make into burgers (It's best to let mix sit for about 15 minutes before forming into patties, this will let the saltines absorb moisture and adhere better). This will make 4-5 depending on size preference.

Cook: The simplest way is to skillet cook these, though grilling is an option and adds awesome flavors-- if grilling make sure you rub the grill with some olive oil so your burger doesn't stick! I put a small amount of butter in a skillet over medium/ medium low heat.  Placing the patties (or do it one at a time) down, let it brown for about 8 minutes. Flip, repeat. Be careful to flip slowly, and make sure you don't burn the patty! Though, I like a darker brown color, some may not (see pictures for color). Plate the delicious bean burger with a bun, and your topping of choice. This is so full of yum, I just use lettuce and a little bit of extra cheese!

This burger is great with extra BBQ sauce drizzled over it, Lettuce, and maybe (if you have them) Fried onions or onion rings. YUM!!!!  You can serve these on a salad, on a bun, with a tortilla wrap and condiments, plain, or just eat them up so quick you hardly see the plating details!

Enjoy!

XOXO,
